[ 07-Aug-01 7:56pm ] 802.11b is wonderful. It sets us free from the telcos and makes us truly mobile. But there's a dark side (or light depending on your POV. It's wonderfully easy to crack. "War Driving" is now a spectator sport. But what's going to be fascinating is how fast 802.11a takes off. It's a solid 54Mpbs. And before the products are even shipping, the analysts are predicting little or no premium in price over the current 11Mbps 802.11b. There's real pent up demand for this, and I think the adoption rate is going to surprise everyone.
