Came across a new term today "functionally unemployed". This is people on below minimum wage, zero hours contracts, occasional work, unpaid carers, and so on. They may have "a job" but it doesn't pay the bills.

Apart from ONS stats being untrustworthy. It's a puzzle how the UK has
- Low vacancies
- Low unemployment
- Low pay

- Huge numbers of applicants for every low paid job
- High economically inactive
- High long term sick.
- High employment rate

and finally
- High functionally unemployed
