Old enough to remember when Johnson (and Cummings) tried to game the search engines by talking about "kippers" to distract from UKIP. And his hobby of making buses out of cardboard boxes, to distract from the Brexit Bus.

Simpler times.

UK COBRA meeting about heat and wildfires.

- We need to do something!

- Perhaps use the emergency warning system to advise people not to start fires?

- That's something! We must do it!

Warn about the warning test over several weeks. Advise people to check phones have it set. Or not, for privacy, especially for secret phones. Run the test, note some failures but announce the success.

Then use it for a non-immediate-LifeOrDeath emergency, crying wolf. So half the country turns it off.

Doh!

The 25th week of the Israel-US-Iran war begins

Aircraft carriers close to mutiny. Unilateral declaration of US ownership of the Strait, floated on Truth Social. US running out of missiles. More bombs in Lebanon.

Is the Strait of Hormuz open? No.

Latest approach. There's no point in trying to negotiate with Trump so don't bother. Just wait him out. He'll be gone eventually.

Apparently both Iran and Israel are now playing this game.

We're losing all the scientific reporting from the Arctic. NOAA, GISS, PIOMAS, in a few years the JAXA satellite images and analysis. Pretty soon we'll have no idea any more about the state of the Arctic Ice.

Dear lazyweb: Trying to find a comedy sketch where Man Like Mobeen (I think) goes to the petting zoo, meets the pigs and explains to camera that pigs are not kryptonite for Muslims. And that they don't disable Muslim superpowers. Like being able to fly.

Anyone remember that?

Google AI search is getting seriously confused by all those words. As usual.

Another scare article about UK datacentres that claims huge water consumption. And a comment that sets that particular issue right. UK (and EU) datacentres use closed loop cooling and not evaporative cooling. So do not consume water.

But. The heat still has to go somewhere. And the entire site still uses huge amounts of energy.
