It's something like - Post copiously - Join all the mailing lists, BBS and Usenet groups in your field - Start your own mailing list and newsletter - Attend conferences and seminars - Get speaking engagements at those seminars - Start a blog on the subject - Write the book - Declare yourself "The Expert" - ??? - PROFIT!
