Is there a researched "journalistic" backgound to this?

It sounds utterly horrific being i this position and I can see a risk in this text being shared as an actual journalistic article.
So I'd like to know wether I'm sharing an entirely fictional text on a possible scenario or if the characters of the story have actual real life counterparts that report this kind of stories?

Bruce is based in Turin, has a Serbian wife and spends a lot of time in places like Belgrade. So it's a work of fiction and not real, but it's clearly informed by the real world.
