Silly season. If Lorenzo is asking for too much money and has got "The Fear". And Pedrosa looks like coming second again. Could they just swap teams? And taking their respective crew and all their trade secrets with them.
Lorenzo to Repsol Honda. Pedrosa to Movistar Yamaha.
It should save everyone some money as well as both riders take a pay cut in return for a competitive ride.
It gets Dani out from a situation where he's no longer Repsol's golden boy. And it feeds Lorenzo's pride and belief that he could beat Marc if only he wasn't held back by Yamaha's limitations (forgetting that he needs Yamaha's strengths).
Lorenzo is currently 5th in the championship behind Dovi. That can't be helping his negotiations!
Why would Honda give up Dani? On the podium often enough and scores points for the team. Ok, didn't bring them a title but with Marc raking in the victories it seems petty to give up a good rider.
Quite. I don't really think it's going to happen, but Puig is no longer around. And Dani hasn't yet won his 2 races a season for this year. And then there's the bluffing over the money. You can be sure that Jarvis has at least approached Dani to find out what it would take for him to jump ship after all these years.
I read for next season Honda want to contract Pedrosa for a lot less salary but with big win bonuses. It will be interesting if this has any effect on his racing.
