Google releases another product that is US only

I'm not in the habit of re-sharing posts but this one deserves it. Here's a rant about Google releasing software and services that are US only. Like the author, I'M SICK OF IT!

Of course, Google is not the only offender here and perhaps not even the worst one. And yes I know that it's not poor Google's fault but the evil governments/media companies/copyright regimes/patent trolls/etc

Read the announcement threads about Google Currents and they're chock full of angry non-US people.

Google Books exists for multiple years, still US only.

Some other examples: Google Voice, Catalogs, Wallet, the list goes on.

Why can't Google think a little broader then it's own country?

seriously, its even a little more insulting here Canada where the economies are practically the same, plus we have one of the highest internet penetration rates, the fastest adoption of new technology than any other country yet we're ignored all the time.

+Matt Jones On the surface Google Currents looks like a FlipBoard clone that reads arbitrary rss/atom feeds. On that basis it's pretty hard to see why it should be limited to US only. And if it's because Google has done exclusive region sensitive deals with publishers, frankly I'm not interested anyway.
