The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement Mr Altaf Hussain has expressed his heartfelt condolences on the death of MQM supporter Mushtaq s/o Abdul Razzaque who was critically injured in Layari by the firing of the terrorists on 9th March. Mr Altaf Hussain sympathized with the family members and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

Mushtaq had received bullet injuries and was admitted in the intensive care unit of a local hospital. He succumbed to his injuries and died after fighting a battle for survival for the last five days. He has left behind his widow, mother and an infant daughter. Mushtaq was 35. He was buried in Mewa Shah Graveyard. MQM MPAs Tahir Qureshi, Muqeem Alam and Shoaib Ibrahim attended the funeral prayer and burial.

Meanwhile the Co-ordination Committee of the MQM has strongly condemned the unfortunate death of Mushtaq and has once again demanded stern action against the criminals and terrorists of the gang war.  The Committee said that the inaction against the criminals and their continued patronage is a cause of serious for the peace loving people of the country.

The Co-ordination Committee asserted that the actions of the criminals of gang war are not directed against MQM alone rather their ignoble activities have badly affected traders, businessmen, artists and small shopkeepers. The Co-ordination Committee decried that the police were doing nothing to control the situation and their unexplained silence has put a big question mark over in the minds of general public about peace and security.

The Co-ordination Committee demanded of President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani to take serious notice of the swell of the vicious activities of the gang war elements and bring to book the killers of Mushtaq. They also stressed upon them to take actions against the supporters of these criminals and hold them accountable for their misdeeds.

Commission for Recovery of Big loans RC Statement [ 14-Mar-11 6:24pm ] [ T ] [ G ] [ N ] [ L ]

The Co-ordination Committee of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has warmly welcomed the suggestion by the Supreme Court of Pakistan to establish a commission for taking action in the first phase against those who availed loans of more than 100 million rupees from the national exchequer and got it written-off. The Committee said that MQM Founder and Leader Mr Altaf Hussain has been consistently demanding action from the superior judiciary and the people at the helm of affairs against those who defrauded and robbed the national exchequer.

The Committee said that Mr Altaf Hussain had written a letter to the Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan on 6th July 2009 and now the formation of a commission against those who got loans above 100 million written off in the first phase will be highly commendable. The Committee said that those who obtained hefty loans and got them written-off cannot be true to the nation and the country and the formation of a commission against them will reflect the aspirations of the people of the country. The Committee said that the recovery of huge loans will support the falling economy of the country.

The Co-ordination Committee of the Muttahida Quami Movement has made strong condemnation of the ghastly murder of 29 years old Imran by the armed terrorists of the gang war. Imran was a worker of Unit 29 of Layari Sector of MQM. The Committee has demanded stern action against the armed terrorists and severe notice of their activities under official patronage and backing.

The Committee said that the terrorists of the gang are holding the city of Karachi hostage by their activities and no one in the city including traders, businessmen and shopkeepers is safe from their thuggery.  They said that another worker of Ranchore Lines Sector of MQM was killed while he was sitting in his shop.  Likewise the gangsters of the gang war resorted to indiscriminate firing on innocent people under the visible patronage of the government in the province of Sindh and its capital Karachi resulting in the death and severe injuries to many people.

The Committee termed the silence of the police over the loot, extortion and killings of the gangster as criminal negligence and said that it is tantamount to throwing the city at the mercy of the criminals and gangsters of Peoples Amn Committee. They said that it seems that the criminals and gangsters have been given a license to kill and the law and order situation created in the city in the past few days is precipitated by their unbridled activities.

The Committee said that the MQM has been making sacrifices for the peace of the city and national security and it will not comprise over the attempts to worsen the law and order situation of the city by the criminals and terrorists. They said that the MQM will raise its voice in unison with the public and people of different walks of life in order to safeguard the peace and tranquillity of the city.

The Committee stressed upon MQM workers to bear with patience and foil the vicious conspiracy against the city and the country by keeping unity just as they have been doing in the past. They also condoled with the bereaved family members of Imran and prayed for the eternal peace of his soul.

The Committee also demanded of President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani to take heed of the murder by two workers of MQM in the last two days alone by the firing of the terrorists and end official patronage of the terrorists of the gang war.

Zardari may lose MQM today [ 13-Mar-11 9:44am ] [ T ] [ G ] [ N ] [ L ]

Agha Khalid
KARACHI: The time limit sought by President Asif Ali Zardari for redressal of the reservations of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is ending today (Sunday).

Well-placed sources told this scribe that if the president failed to make "clear announcements" today (Sunday), then the MQM will permanently part ways with the Pakistan People's Party (PPP).

The most important among the MQM demands is the government's disassociation from the People's Amn Committee and action against 300 criminals. The MQM has already presented a list of its demands to the PPP in the earlier meetings. The Muttahida is also seeking a clear announcement regarding action against Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza.

The sudden arrival of President Zardari in Karachi and announcement of a meeting with the MQM delegation strengthened speculations that today's meeting will be decisive.

Sources in the MQM said that if the president did not make the announcement for redressal of their grievances, which was promised during a meeting at the Aiwan-e-Sadr a week ago, the MQM will say goodbye to the PPP.

Important MQM leaders told this correspondent on condition of anonymity that the ball was now in the court of President Zardari. They said the time of assurances was now gone.

Although, the MQM leaders didn't reveal details of their demands presented to President Zardari, sources said dissociation from the Amn Committee and action against 300 criminals are among the top demands of the MQM. The MQM also wants visible action against Zulfiqar Mirza to satisfy its voters. Source : The News

The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement Mr Altaf Hussain has expressed his heartfelt condolences on the martyrdom of Khurram, worker of Unit UC - 3A, MQM Ranchore Line Sector.  He sympathised with the family members of the deceased worker and prayed for his eternal peace and divine forgiveness.

Meanwhile the Co-ordination Committee of MQM has sharply criticized the martyrdom of Khurram and termed it a continuance of the vicious attempt to create lawless in the city. The Committee said that the unbridled loot, extortion and killing by the criminals of Layari gang war should be a moment of grave concern for the people of Karachi. The Committee sympathized with the family members of Khurram and demanded of President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani to take stern notice of the barbaric killing of Khurram  and bring the perpetrators to book.

Altaf calls for promoting tolerance to save country [ 13-Mar-11 9:19am ] [ T ] [ G ] [ N ] [ L ]
Muttahida Qaumi Movement founder Altaf Hussain has said religious extremism, bigotry and intolerance are pulling down the country and in order to save the country from utter devastation it is necessary to promote the principles of harmony, toleration and live and let live.

He said this while talking to a delegation of NGOs at Nine-Zero by telephone on Wednesday. Members of the Coordination Committee were also present on the occasion.

The MQM chief said Islam guarantees protection to the life and property and places of worship of all non-Muslims. The founder the country, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, had made it clear in his speech to the Constituent Assembly on August 11, 1947 that the followers of all the religions would have the freedom to worship in the country according to their beliefs, but unfortunately religious extremism and bigotry was encouraged that had brought the country to the edge of the precipice, he said.

Hussain remarked that the situation had come to a point where even mosques, Imambargahs, shrines of saints, religious gatherings and even funeral processions were not safe from terrorists and suicide attacks and bomb blasts had become common.

"All this terrorism is being carried out in the name of Islam which is tarnishing the image of Islam and the Muslims throughout the world." Condemning the murder of Punjab governor Salman Taseer and federal minister for minorities Shahbaz Bhatti, he said that such incidents were deepening a sense of insecurity in the minorities.

Hussain said the MQM considered that it was imperative to create the feeling of security in the minorities, and people belonging to various segments of society must come forward to achieve that goal. He said it was necessary to promote the principles of toleration and live and let live in order to free the country from the menace of terrorism.

Hussain said he personally opposed the use of the term "minority" for the non-Muslims. "I consider all citizens of the country as equal irrespective of their religion, religious persuasion and beliefs. I stand for religious and sectarian harmony and dignity of human beings."

A delegation of key Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders left for London on Tuesday to discuss the present political situation and seek guideline from their leader.

MQM sources told The News that the delegation will discuss the action plan in regard to Altaf's speech about bringing a revolution in the country.

I think they have gone to discuss the political situation prevailing in the country. The sources who divulged this information are wrong.

MQM stops tirades after assurances [ 09-Sep-10 12:33am ] [ T ] [ G ] [ N ] [ L ]
via The Nation:   MQM stops tirades after assurances

Muttahida Qaumi Movement has halted the scathing criticism against incumbent setup following the assurance with regard to fulfilment of promises by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani

It was agreed in the meeting that MQM would be taken on board while preparing future strategy to bring normalcy in the city

It was also agreed that some of the MQM activists, who were under custody on charges of target killing, would be released.

Reports says that MQM has stopped criticizing the PPP government on the assurance of the president and the prime minister.

The big question is: Will PPP fulfill its promise?

Both President and the prime minister have made similar promises in the past.

MQM relief camp attacked in Lahore; Altaf warns consequences [ 07-Sep-10 11:42pm ] [ T ] [ G ] [ N ] [ L ]

LAHORE : Arms loaded unknown assailants attacked on a relief camp established in the Liberty Square Lahore by MQM in an apparent attempt to snatch the goods contributed by the people.

As per media reports the attacker in broad daylight smashed on the stall encamped by Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation at Liberty Chock, the main activity area, not far from police station. Mubeen Qazi leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement told the media that the valiant workers repulsed the perpetrators.

Chief of MQM Altaf Hussain while strongly denouncing the attack said, "If any of my colleagues hurts in Punjab we will not remain silent. A countrywide protest would be launched he threatened adding we will suffocate the ruffians.

Altaf held that if such shameful tactics did not come to end in Punjab then we would be compelled to defend ourselves.

The civil society has also deplored attack on the camp of Khidmat-e-Khalq and opined that our society has been infested by certain elements that promote their agenda by intimidation tools.

Meanwhile unidentified person opened fire in a relief camp set up in Larkana, killing one girl on the spot and fled from the scene.
