Nationalisation says that running a service as not-for-profit saves money, because you're not paying shareholders for the right to keep going. But it leads to bloat, public sector wage demands and inefficiency. With costs rising in the wrong place in public accounts. It socialises the production, but still requires hefty gov subsidies for essential infrastructure that's too big to fail. Government and customers eventually lose as the system gets too unwieldy.

Privatisation says that corporate competition squeezes inefficiencies out of the system. Leading to better services for less cost. In reality, greedflation and rentier shareholders produce a worse service for more money. While privatising the profit but socialising the risk, leading to gov subsidies to keep essential infrastructure running. A win for shareholders and disaster capitalists. A lose for everyone else.
