All kinds of development consultants design all this. In conjunction with County Highways departments. Who will be redundant and replaced when the two County councils are turned into multiple Unitary councils in 2028.

It's taken 20 years to get this far. Actual housebuilding might start in 7-10 years and continue for another 20.

Avoid travelling to Harlow by vehicle for another decade. Or use the tiny rat run backroads like everybody else.

Next step is to build a second bridge to create 5 lanes. 2 Car, 2 Bus and a Cycle-footpath. On lammas fields that flood. Then to replace the mini roundabout with a giant light controlled crossing, with Bus only into the new villages so all other traffic has to go left and right. This to link to a new dual carriageway to a new bridge to the east.

This can't be done without extensive and lengthy single lane contraflows.

Vital infrastructure, needed before the first of 10k homes is built.

Entering Harlow from the west involves a 4 lane dual carriageway, into a tiny roundabout, to a two lane bridge over the mainline railway and River Stort to a massive 5 way roundabout. They've spent the last 5 years remodelling this roundabout to add priority bus lanes and cycle paths. With the result that the previous bridge mini-roundabout and one side of the dual carriageway blocks up completely. It's now weeks from being finished but doesn't actually look any different from a car.

Gilston - North Harlow has been in the news again. So for my sins I went to an occasional Community Forum last night. It was another fine example of what I've come to think of as "Nimby-Washing" or maybe "Consultation Washing". A room full of angry locals being talked at by development consultants and councillors. So they can say "there's been public consultation - generally in favour".

Key takeaway : Avoid Harlow for the next decade. Traffic management is going to be impossible.

Nobody's asked about and for Tory and RefUk. So either nobody cares or it's obvious!

I need something similar for Labour - ? Quitters, Splitters, Friends Of Israel?

Reading the latest Charles Stross - The Regicide Report

He mentions a "giant Aztec-style skull rack at Marble Arch" from a previous book. eg

And I was reminded of one of the more bizarre side effects of Covid. The Marble Arch Mound - Tourist "attraction".

The Johnson years were just ... weird.

The measles story is bringing out the Anti-Vax trolls, rage farmers, bot farms, useful idiots. It's exhausting when every Social Media post about it has > 500 comments. Most of them Anti-Vax. Who's paying for all that?

There's a strong correlation between Anti-Vax and the far Right Wing of UK politics.

The Right Wing Contrarians do love things they can be contrary about. It feeds the Grift and The Long Con.

Anyone got that UK 2025 Total Official Covid Cases number?

Those numbers would have been lower if more people had got the vax. And if we were better at indoor air quality mitigation against airborne diseases.

# · Mastodon View the site

In UK 2025,

1) There were 959 cases of a very highly infectious airborne disease with a vax. And one death.

2) There were an unknown number of cases of a highly infectious airborne disease with a vax. Probably over 100k on official figures. And 5,274 deaths.

Can you guess? 1) is Measles. 2) is Covid.

Does that common ground include me or is it just a sound?
A sound that quakes, there are fears that still reverberate
