It would simplify things to use something that worked with the native Android media library now that's stable. Except that you lose some metadata compared with things that build their own library from .mp3 and .m2u8 files. But scanning that big a library gets *slow*.

Please point me at a music player that can reliably handle this.

Android 14 phone. Running Google standard Android. 1Tb micro-SD. ~65k music tracks in ~650Gb. 20 playlists. Largest playlist is 17k tracks.

Maintained in a mirrored /music/$artist/$album folder tree via winamp and tagscanner. Transferred with Windows USB support.

Currently using Blackplayer EX 20.62. Last year's 20.63 release is broken in small ways and the developer has left the building.

Long term though, what does the future hold for Europe, and West Asia? Is it going to be heat domes, blocking highs and extreme heat coming up from the Sahara. Or do we get a big jump in the chaotic Lorenz attractor. AMOC Collapse, Blue Ocean Event and huge amounts of cold, rain, and snow? Combined with the loss of all the coastal areas as sea level rises.

UK really needs to start building and modifying for resilience. Too hot, too cold, too much rain, not enough rain. We can't handle any of them. Since we're a very urban and suburban population living in towns and cities, the heat island effect is very real. Which means more trees, painting everything white, solar panels on all the roofs, shutters, air to air or combo heat pumps. At the very least.
