Schools as well. The buildings are not fit for purpose in both winter and summer.

A single food across the whole of the Mediterranean is an emblem of at least 10,000 years of shared trade and culture. Europe includes everything north of the Sahara on both sides of the sea.

In the long term, a maximalist EU should reflect that.

Datacentre heat island effect in a heatwave
https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2026/jun/26/slough-is-like-an-experiment-europes-largest-datacentre-hub-leaves-town-sweltering

With all the datacentre building going on around the M25 around London there are huge questions. Electricity supply, water supply and now heat management.

Collapse is not evenly distributed. But it's just quietly happening, with quiet desperation, in the UK. It's the English way.

It's not just heat/cold. It's also basic infection control. There's no attempt to improve Indoor Air Quality with air filtration to remove airborne disease particles. Same with rapid fresh air circulation. Despite the lessons learned or not learned from Covid. Again, it's too expensive and too easy to deny there's even a problem.

Absolutely ridiculous that UK hospitals and schools have no A/C, no air management and no air filtration [1]. But like everything else in the UK the infrastructure is now very old, falling apart and would cost more money to replace than the economy can afford. It's worse than that. Even the windows that do open are limited to a 10cm crack to avoid the danger of people falling out.
