In the noise around the Burnham "Tech College" announcement, Badenoch said it was unfair that people on benefits could earn more on them and lose money if they started work. The implication being that we should punish claimants by reducing benefits. Why doesn't she push for an increase in the minimum and living wage then?

Oh, the Clacton voters sing this song
Binface! Binface!

On the Clacton pier all day long.
Binface all the way.

They're binning Farage
They'll have him hauled away

Gonna put my money on the binheaded man.
Binface is here to stay

Pertinent comment
> There's long been this assumption that analog AC load/frequency control is just more stable than DC/electronics, and there's just no particular reason for that to be the case. Maybe it is, maybe not. It depends on how you set up the DC/electronics.

One US datacentre goes off line from the Eastern electricity grid when it's supply tripped out. The grid then caused 10 minutes of frequency fluctuations on the entire Eastern Interconnection.

Hooray! AI is going to force us to spend money to update and modernise the grid. Long overdue. For the benefit of everybody.

Is there nothing AI can't do?

So IMHO,

Black Flag weather really means "Houston, you've got a problem there. Normal life cannot continue at all in the open air."

# · Mastodon View the site

Parts of the USA hit 28C WBT yesterday.

US Military Black Flag weather is defined in WBGT, not WBT. So effectively WBT in open sunlight where WBT is 2m air temp in shade. "Black Flag" weather is 90F/32.2C WBGT. "severe risk of heat stroke and exhaustion", "Physical training and strenuous exercise suspended for all personnel"

I'm guessing it's highly likely that the 28C WBT is over 32.2C WBGT.

28C WBT will kill some people. 30C WBT will kill a lot of people. 35C WBT is not survivable.

Clacton Postal votes have gone out. I'm loving that "BINFACE, Count" is on the top page. And FARRIDGE, Nigel is on the 3rd or 4th fold down.

Not my legs. Invisible Banana for scale.
