Use a proper funky Jamaican Rum like Wray & Neph's various rums. The full overproof is maybe a bit much. Really tempting to go for cheap bourbon, cheap rum and cheap vermouth. It is like back in the day somebody was trying to make cheap liquor palatable. So lean into it.

#1 45,22,22 Tawny port. No
#2 this. Good
#3 45,15,30, add orange bitters, cherry. Not quite as good as #2
