How many Israel products or products from companies that support Israel can you find in the supermarket? #BDS Don't buy them. Sabra Hummus, Jaffa fruit, CocaCola group products. Others? Replacement product labels for supermarket shelves. Be sneaky.

World Cup. We all said there would be Visa, ICE, DHS, Immigration Security, ticket problems with the US Football World Cup this year. So it's hardly surprising, that's exactly what's happening. It's just really embarrassing for FIFA and the USA, even if they can't admit it.

You should lose citizenship, in the first, right? So UK citizens that also hold an Israel passport and then fight for the IDF, should lose their British Passport, right?

> affordable spaces of convivial exchange Many new artistic works and especially music have been driven by social support that keeps you alive. Decayed spaces that are temporarily free and can be exploited. Fast / cheap / free word of mouth promotion and self-organisation. And boredom. We've got most of those in place again. But it's not happening. Is simple survival too hard, so there's no boredom space to work with? Where is the punk-youth revolution of today? Especially in China.

I remember the birth of industrial noise music and heavy metal. It was very much based on steam powered, heavy engineering factories. I've long wondered what the music would be for modern industrial environments when the biggest noise is the random whir of small electric motors spinning up and down in all the robots. So what is the sound and music of collapse? What is the sound and music of modern drone warfare? As one wag put it, "Very LOUD. And then very silent".

I still feel now like we haven't yet fully explored the 5-dimensional space of The Groove, The One, Complexity, Randomness and Bass Weight. Even if AI can generate vast quantities of "Over-Compressed Techno track #23". And yet. The drug-addled religion of the Techno-House Saturday All-Nighter is nearly 40 years old. It was the late 80s when MDMA changed music forever. Can we really not find something new to say beyond "take a little pill with me"?

https://old.reddit.com/r/MarkFisher/comments/1u0g8q4/what_does_the_collapse_of_society_sound_like/ This prompted a rant. Both Kurt Cobain and Mark Fisher suffered under the crushing weight of the past and past musical influences. The existential dread of a post-modernist feeling that there was no space left in which to create something new. Arguably that drove both of them to suicide. And yet, after they were gone, new musics appeared.

No Spoilers. Waiting in anticipation and a certain amount of dread for tonight's final episode of Tip Toe. I wonder what Russel T. Davies thinks about the current plans to restrict social media use for under 16s. If you're not watching Tip Toe, you must.

Into the 15th week of the Israel-US-Iran war. Ceasefire! What ceasefire? Look at the World Cup instead. Because the stalemate has dropped out of the news cycle. Israel bombs, destroys and kills in Gaza, Lebanon and West Bank. The Straits are still closed. There are brief exchanges of missiles. Get Your War On!

The Roman Empire never ended. It started with pyramid command structures and alcohol. It co-opted coffee and coca. It added debt based money. Now it runs the world. Uppers, downers and debt. It's a killer combination.

An attempt at a Pina Colada didn't go right at all. So here's a #Cocktail - Satan: 60ml Bourbon, 30ml Red Vermouth, dash Peychaud's, dash Absinthe, cherry. Need to work on my Tiki game. Too much dilution, not enough creamy and froth. Not enough thick fruit. And I'm out of umbrellas.

Reminds me of the Ecomodernist Manifesto. Seems to be "by 2100" again. What about 2101? One key goal is to keep climate warming below 2C. m'kay. They criticise the IPCC for not paying enough attention to social issues. Good that they're adding more variables to their model. Presumably they've read Limits to Growth. So how do they intend to cope with the Resource and Pollution Constraints? I haven't yet found any reference to Global Population numbers or the UN Demographics group.

https://globaljusticeproject.wid.world/ We can survive the collapse and create a utopia, if we can just ... - Decarbonise energy systems - Shift away from overconsumption towards “sufficiency”. - Reduce labour hours and the use of raw materials, consumption patterns, food habits, land use and forest cover. - Reduce inequality of income, wealth and power. So that's all good then.

Imagine for a moment that there's a sweet spot for SMR Nuclear power plants around 250-400MW. Tried and tested PWR tech that's simplified and productionised so they can be built (relatively) fast and cheap. In, say, 10 years. The biggest non-experimental wind turbines are around 12MW now. Grid scale BESS is up around 500MW installations. So that's 20-40 turbines and associated batteries for each SMR. Can't we do both? Shouldn't we do both?

Malthus used a very simplistic model to make a point and because that was all he had. Limits to Growth was a much better model with many more interdependent variables. But that was the early 70s. We should be much better at this now. If people criticise limits to growth as Malthusian, ask them what model they are using and how that model handles resource and pollution constraints.

Now starting the 14th week of the Israel-US-Iran war. All the ceasefires are being broken. In small and large ways. Israel continues to take over more and more of Gaza, Lebanon and West Bank. Trump continues to claim a deal with Iran is near but he Strait is still closed. Get Your War On!
