Next step is to build a second bridge to create 5 lanes. 2 Car, 2 Bus and a Cycle-footpath. On lammas fields that flood. Entering Harlow from the west involves a 4 lane dual carriageway, into a tiny roundabout, to a two lane bridge over the mainline railway and River Stort to a massive 5 way roundabout. They've spent the last 5 years remodelling this roundabout to add priority bus lanes and cycle paths. With the result that the previous bridge mini-roundabout and one side of the dual carriageway blocks up completely. It's now weeks from being finished but doesn't actually look any different from a car. | |

Gilston - North Harlow has been in the news again. So for my sins I went to an occasional Community Forum last night. It was another fine example of what I've come to think of as "Nimby-Washing" or maybe "Consultation Washing". A room full of angry locals being talked at by development consultants and councillors. So they can say "there's been public consultation - generally in favour". Key takeaway : Avoid Harlow for the next decade. Traffic management is going to be impossible. | |

The one awkward thing with small festivals that got a bit big is that moment when the entire site wants to get into one stage tent. It gets impossibly hot and airless inside and security have to do one out, one in. So I missed Midland's closing set, but listened to some of it from outside. Not just because of the lgbtqia+ community in all their finery but also for the Sun afternoon dressing up as the "Salesforce Team Building event from hell" and "Wedding Drunk Uncle".
